About Kijani Energy
Jatropha Field
Kijani Energy is an emerging sustainable energy company initially focused on the cultivation of Jatropha Curcas and the production of biodiesel. We are currently developing large-scale Jatropha Curcas cultivation operations in Mozambique—through our subsidiary Odeveza S.A. Strategically, Kijani Energy believes that control of the feedstock will be essential to effectively positioning the company at the forefront of the green energy industry over the medium term. During 2009, Kijani Energy will also develop its downstream activities with seed crushing, refining and power generation facilities expected to become operational over the next two-three years.

Seminar Series with UCM

PuzzleOn August 15, 2008 Kijani Energy, through our local subsidiary Odeveza S.A., organized a high-level public seminar in conjunction with Universidade Católica de Moçambique. The objective was to promote public discussion of the role of biofuels in Mozambique. The full day seminar was headlined by His Excellency Soares Nhaca, Minister of Agriculture, and attended by other high ranking government officials, local researchers and experts in Jatropha, international media, faculty and students of UCM, and member of the general public. The presentations from the seminar are available in the Events and Media section of our website. Potocol with Instituto Agrario de Chimoio
Research
On June 2, 2008, Kijani Energy signed a research protocol with Instituto Agrário de Chimoio (Mozambique) to launch our ambitious research program. As part of the agreement, our Mozambican company Odeveza SA has initiated trial plots in co-operation with IAC and will prepare an agronomy manual for Jatropha smallholders. In the mean time, we are preparing a comprehensive research program, in co-operation with IAC and other research groups, to tap into the many benefits that can be expected from increased research into Jatropha and its cultivation and processing.
